Title: Woodland tracks, Oil Painting on canvas - Hand-signed by Koekkoek. Part of a set of two. Framed. Hendrik Pieter Koekkoek (1843-1827) was a Dutch master painter, best known for his landscapes. He was part of the well-known Koekkoek family of painters and was the son of landscape painter Marinus Adrianus Koekkoek. Pieter Hendrik Koekkoek was trained by his father Marinus Adrianus. Especially in the 1860s and 1870s, he painted in the same romantic style as his father, mainly landscapes and forest scenes. Later, his style would become more realistic. Koekkoek often travelled back and forth between the Netherlands (Amsterdam and The Hague) and England. He lived for long periods in London, where his cousin Hermanus Koekkoek de Jonge ran an art gallery. Much of his work was sold on the English market through this.
