Title: Boerderij en molen in landschap ('Farm and windmill in landscape'). Oil painting on painter's card board, signed with pencil by Doeser. Comes with a beautiful frame. Jacobus Johannes Doeser(1884-1969) was a painter with a long track record and a very extensive oeuvre characterised by many styles. Born at the end of the 19th century, he experienced many developments of modern visual arts. Through his marriage to Betsy Carlebur, scion of a Dordrecht family of painters, he entered an artistic milieu. Like many artists at the time, he was influenced by theosophy and emerging socialism. Doeser worked in many places in the Netherlands (Laren, Utrecht, Zandvoort, Noordwijk, Bennebroek) but also in France (Paris) and Germany (Leipzig). Doeser was a member of both the Society of Sculptors ‘Art be our goal’ (Haarlem) and the Vereeniging Sint Lucas (Amsterdam).
