Helen Nieuwendijk (1946): Studied sociology at the University of Amsterdam. In 1985, she was accepted at Ruudt Wackers' art academy. In 1988, she took a postgraduate course at the van Gogh studio under Peter Schenk. Her paintings are expressive, an encounter between figuration and abstraction takes place. They give the viewer the opportunity for imagination and fantasy. Her paintings are colourful and light in touch. Helen needs reality to represent her fantasy. She works intensely and intuitively. Her paintings have been acquired for private collections in England, Switzerland, Belgium and America. She creates portraits and receives many commissions from the business world. Helen participates in art projects and exhibitions. Comes from the collection of the municipality of Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
