Lovely small oil-painting on panel, with studio stamp and address reference. Hand-signed with monogram Provenance; collection gallery Wiek XX Hennie van der Vegt (1953-) attended the Groningen academy Minerva from 1974-1979, lives in Amsterdam and has his studios at Ruigoord and in Amsterdam. From 1979, his work was exhibited with great regularity at home and abroad. Besides painting portraits, such as the portrait of Johan Cruijff hanging in the Arena, commissioned by the Municipality of Amsterdam, he also painted the ‘Ruigoord Variations’, portraits of people who play a role in one way or another in the theatre of Ruigoord, still lifes, animals and nudes. Increasingly, he is considered at home and abroad as ‘the’ painter of flowers, blossoms and foliage. Van der Vegt's approach has reinvigorated the Flower Still Life genre. It has gained an unprecedented vitality and dynamism. Solo presentations include; Singer Museum, Noordbrabants Museum, Amsterdam Museum. Group presentations a.o.; Drents Museum, Museum het Valkhof, Museum Mohlmann.
