Hand-Signed by the Artist. Willibrord Haas was born into a family of musicians and moved to Wangen in 1948. From 1954 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. His teachers were Hermann Kaspar, Richard Seewald, Charles Crodel, Georg Schmidt. In addition, he took courses at the Ludwig Maximilian University with Hans Sedlmayr and Romano Guardini. In 1960 he graduated as a master student. From the following year he worked in Berlin. In 1966 he had his first exhibition in Biberach. A short time later he made the acquaintance of Joseph Beuys, whose understanding of art inspired him. From 1975 he was a lecturer in etching at the International Summer Academy in Salzburg and was regularly involved in events at various institutions. Haas was married to Helga Wirth from 1972 until her death in 2014. The couple had two sons. Willibrord Haas is one of the last living artists of the 'post-war abstraction'.
