Louis GANS (Den Haag 1930 - Amsterdam 2012) Publisher by Bernard Ruygrok Dr Louis Gans obtained his doctorate with the thesis 'Nieuwe Kunst. The Dutch Contribution to Art Nouveau' in 1960 on Art Nouveau in the Netherlands and has since been active in the art world in various capacities. From 1954 to 1960, he was curator of the Museum Kröller-Müller. From 1958 to 1960, he taught art history at the Arnhem Academy of Art (Algemeen Handelsblad, 15 October 1963). In December 1963, he resigned as head curator of the Stedelijk Museum to implement his 'Gans plan': an effort to promote the accessibility of the visual arts and an attempt to bridge the gap between artist and public. As part of the 'plan-Gans', Louis Gans organised several sales exhibitions at the Bols Tavern in Amsterdam from 1964 onwards (Press Documentation Collection). In 1969, he organised the first edition of the art fair Musement (Haagsche Courant, 22 April 1969). In 1972, he accepted a position as director of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem (Dagblad van de Zaanstreek, 1 June 1972). He was also a poet, painter and mystic. Comes from the collection of the municipality of The Hague, The Netherlands.
